SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE TODAY IN THE CAROLINAS

Severe Weather will be possible today in portions of the Carolinas especially in Eastern North Carolina.  The HRRR model is showing storms beginning to beef up around 12:30 p.m. today with the storms lingering through the area before finally moving off the coast tonight around midnight.  The main threats today will be damaging winds and severe hail with the possibility of some tornadoes.  The percent chance of severe hail and damaging winds is around 15% in some areas, which means that there is a 15% chance of severe hail and damaging winds every 25 miles in that particular area.  The percent chance of tornadoes comes in much lower at 2%, but a tornado or two can’t be ruled out.  The NWS has the most of Eastern North Carolina under a slight risk, which they define as 1 or 2 tornadoes, some reports of wind damage and large hail greater than 1″ in diameter.  Please stay tuned to us here at www.severewxwarn.com today as we provide you with all the necessary tools to track these storms and stay safe during severe weather.  Please like us on Facebook and be sure to check out our all new Apps in the Android App Store.
