TROPICAL STORM COULD POSSIBLY IMPACT NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY & CONNECTICUT COASTLINE

Tropical Depression Eleven formed today in the Atlantic Ocean a couple hundred miles south west of Bermuda.  Over the next coming days the storm is expected to become a Tropical storm, which would be named Joaquin at that time.  If the storm reaches that United States coast it would likely be 6 days out, which you know with the tropics could be subject to change at any time.  The current computer models show this storm taking a track up the east coast staying off shore until it reaches New York & New Jersey and the current models show this reaching land near the New York coastline directly south of Bridgeport Connecticut.  The current models also show this being a tropical storm at the time with a 90% chance of those areas being affecting with tropical storm force winds and also a 60% chance of those winds being greater than 50 mph.  The chance of this packing hurricane force winds is looking slim with only a 20-30% chance.  We currently think that the winds will be somewhere between 50-60 mph in the 5-6 day range if nothing changes between now and then.  The main impacts of this storm at this time would be some wind and possibly 4-6 inches of rain depending on the track of this storm.  This storm will likely bring rough seas to the coastline as well so rip currents are marine advisories could possibly be issued with this system.  We will continually monitor this storm as it develops and post any changes to our site as well as our Facebook page.  Be sure to like us on Facebook for the most recent information on severe weather and this storm.  We also offer tons of free maps and forecasts so be sure to familiarize yourself with what our site has to offer.  Also please use the social media sharing buttons above to share this article with friends and family on your favorite social media sites.
