Tropical Depression Forms in Atlantic Likely to Become Hurricane

Tropical Depression Five formed in the Atlantic early Saturday morning and is expected to become a tropical storm by early Sunday and likely a hurricane by mid-week. The storm is located 805 miles southeast of Barbados with maximum sustained winds of 35mph. It is currently moving west at 12 mph. The storm could begin affecting Puerto Rico as early as Wednesday night. The central and northern Lesser Antilles should monitor this system over the coming days.

A turn toward the northwest is expected on Sunday. Gradual strengthening is forecast for the next few days. We will continue to monitor this system as it approaches the Lesser Antilles mid-week and possibly the US going into next weekend. Be sure to check back often and follow us on Facebook.
