Tropical Storm Karl Forms in the Atlantic Ocean Like to Become Hurricane

Tropical Storm Karl formed overnight and currently has maximum sustained winds of near 45 mph.  This storm is currently moving west at 13 mph.  It’s too early to determine if this system will have any impact on the US though this system is expected to strengthen over the coming days and will likely reach hurricane strength sometime next week.  The water temperatures are favorable for development and the wind shear over the coming days will be moderate allowing for some slow development.  We will continue to monitor this system over the coming days and provide updates as needed.
